Hello and happy 2019! It’s been a minute since I’ve been here. My unintentional blog hiatus started with a trip back to my hometown right before Christmas, followed by our holiday celebrations in Austin. The new year brought the familiar itch to start afresh, and I found myself spending every day purging the clutter and excess out of our home. In short, it’s been a whole lot of everything-other-than-blogging for the past few weeks.

Having that freedom is one of the perks of being my own boss, but it’s a drawback sometimes too. I don’t want to be away from blogging and I have so many shoots to share with you! So enough of saying hellos after the short break. These pics are from the first weekend we stayed at our family’s lake house after it was renovated. We woke up in time to see the sunrise over the hills in the distance, watching nature’s show from the screened in porch with our coffee in hand. Then we walked down to the water to take a stroll and stretch our legs.

We eventually went back inside when it was time for Merritt’s morning nap. While she slept, I took a few photos inside the house to capture some of the decor details that I love. It was still in the beginning stages of being filled with furniture and only had a few pieces at this point. Nonetheless, it was so cozy and had everything we needed for a wonderful, relaxing weekend!

While I took photos inside, Blake got the fire pit going so we could make use of the basket of s’mores that had been thoughtfully left for us. I joined him with baby monitor in hand, and we whiled away the rest of the morning right there until Merritt’s waking coos called us back inside.

My outfit was indicative of the relaxing day we had. A striped mock neck top with skinny Levi’s and a pair of moccasins, it was simple and comfortable. I layered a wooly scarf over my shoulders to keep any chill off, and of course the coffee in hand helped keep me toasty inside. Speaking of that, this ceramic travel mug is such a game-changer in the coffee arena! I’ve always felt that stainless mugs change the flavor of my coffee, so I finally bought a few ceramic ones and now I’ll never go back! My coffee tastes as good as it’s meant to and all is right in the world of coffee-to-go. I linked it below along with similar items to this outfit.
