There’s something about being home that feels like a vacation more than actual vacation. With no itineraries other than visiting family and friends, meals that are planned and prepped without any help from us, and our baby constantly being taken off our hands, we found ourselves with time to spare and fun to be had. We felt spoiled and relaxed the whole time!

There’s not much going on in Dalhart which can either be a blessing or a curse. For us coming from the city, it’s a nice time to enjoy the slowness of small town life and simple everyday pleasures. We drove around town with the sunroof open, looking at houses, noting the new landmarks, telling stories, and listening to music. We stopped at some of the sights that were a part of my childhood, like a motel at the end of the street I grew up on, the bowling alley that’s now shut down, and the old bleachers where I watched high school football games before the new stadium was built.

It was a cool and sunny day and I wore an outfit full of vintage vibes to match the charm of my town. This outfit makes me think of the movie “Now and Then” and the colors of the houses in “Edward Scissorhands”. The candy striped top is from J. Crew and has an elastic cinched waist and puffed sleeves that give it a young, girly feel. The jeans are my high-waisted Madewell vintage style jeans that I always rave about; paired with classic Keds sneakers, this outfit could be something a housewife or a movie star straight out of the 50s would wear.

I wore this buffalo plaid coat because I love how casual it looks with the sleeves rolled, and mixing patterns adds fun to any outfit. It’s also lightweight and just an overall great jacket that can be worn casually or dressed up like I did here. Colorful accessories like my pink sunglasses and burgundy crossbody bag were the finishing touches for a vintage-inspired outfit perfect for stomping around the old sites of my town.
