On Thanksgiving morning Blake and I woke up early to head to breakfast with family, the first of three Thanksgiving meals we had over the holiday weekend. It’s always a tradition to do this each year with his mom’s side of the family and every time there’s the dilemma of whether to split a plate or order your own. I’m personally a fan of eating a full meal to stretch/prepare my stomach for later so I was stuffed full of turkey avocado bennie and banana nutella crepes when we stopped at the Lady Bird Lake trails afterwards to walk off our meal and enjoy the view of downtown.
It was drizzly and cool all day so I wore this gray sweater and scarf from Forever 21 to stay warm and these windowpane plaid joggers from Target (last seen in this post). I also picked up this striped foldover clutch from Forever 21; I love shopping for clutches or small shoulder bags there because they’re so reasonably priced. I’m all for investing in a pricier satchel or tote that will be used for years, but when it comes to my small bags I like to have several and switch them out often so it’s nice to get them for so cheap. A few other small bags I like, all under $25, are this, this, and this one.
We ate our second Thanksgiving meal that afternoon and then our third get-together was held at our house the following night. I’ve been pinteresting tons of recipes and I made this blue cheese and walnut spread with sliced pears and crackers for spreading, a cranberry sauce similar to this recipe (I added cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice to mine), and this spiced pear cake with cinnamon nutmeg buttercream icing and candied pecans. All were deliciously seasonal and I can’t wait to get to work on some of the recipes on my Christmas Sweets board (will definitely be making this fudge recipe soon!)
How was your Thanksgiving?! Did you travel anywhere neat or try any new recipes? I’d love to hear!
