Whenever I’m lacking inspiration or don’t want to put much thought into my outfit, I tend to fall back on the simple and classic jeans and tee shirt combo. It’s an outfit that’s always in my closet and there are endless ways to accessorize to change up the look completely; I wore a version of it here styled with a denim jacket, ballet flats, and a scarf; and here with a pair of oxfords, a crossbody, and minimal jewelry.
No matter how you decide to wear it, it’s important to remember that the finishing touches are what make this ensemble an ‘outfit’ and not just the clothes you’d wear to lounge around home. My favorite tried and true way to jazz up any outfit is with a great pair of shoes like these blue suede block heeled sandals. I love these shoes and wear them often; as a high heel they’re easy to walk in with the wide base and ankle strap, and they’re a unique color and texture that adds interest to any outfit.
Another great way to dress up a simple outfit is with a nice handbag. My Michael Kors Sutton satchel is another item I use on the regular. The structured style of it has a put-together look and gives a classy edge to the casual outfit. Since everything else about the outfit was so simple, I played around with my jewelry and layered on some necklaces, and wrapped a skinny belt in snakeskin print around my wrist for a layered leather cuff look.
