I’ve never been one to shy away from trying something new. I frequently had bumps and bruises (and stitches) as a kid but it never phased me from jumping off garage roofs or trying to hurdle fences or riding my bike along a low garden wall. I was the youngest of four and had plenty of cousins around, so I always tried to do what the bigger kids were doing. So it’s no surprise that when I met Blake and his favorite things were wakeboarding and longboarding, I wanted in on the fun.
He got me into wakeboarding immediately, as going out on his boat was our first date (and most dates thereafter)! Longboarding came a bit later when I decided to learn in secret. I started taking his board out of the back of his car and practicing on it around my apartment complex parking lot when he wasn’t around (he drove a company vehicle to work). After a couple weeks of getting the basics down, I told him I’d been learning on his board and wanted to get my own. He was surprised and excited and we went to buy one for me asap! It’s the same one I have ten years later. I’ve weathered some bumps and bruises on it but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
We took our boards with us on a lake weekend recently and found a road with a view to ride along. It’s good that we got our adrenaline going to warm us up because the predicted weather didn’t pan out and it was chilly for the outfit I’d planned. Luckily I had my old Gap denim jacket which I wore over a striped cotton t-shirt dress and paired with my Vans Sk8-Hi sneakers. A t-shirt dress is possibly the simplest and comfiest thing you could wear. You can style and accessorize it so many ways! I’d love to get another one in white and wear it with a moto jacket, heels, and chunky jewelry for a chic date night on the town. It’s an item you should definitely have in your spring wardrobe! Browse some t-shirt dresses I love below along with the accessories I would style each with!
