The season of sun is winding down. I won’t cheapen it by saying it’s my favorite season, because I’m certain I’ve said that of other seasons in the past. I realize now that I wholeheartedly appreciate certain aspects of every season and that’s why I find myself wanting to label it as ‘favorite’. Fall brings a crispness to the air that invigorates, and the flavors and spices of harvest season. Winter brings holidays and celebrations, cozy things, and, oh, snowboarding! With spring comes the renewal of life outside, the gentle invitation to escape our winter hibernation and breathe the fresh air again. But oh how I’ll miss the skin-bearing dresses and golden warmth of the sun once it’s no longer an everyday luxury. That is something I’ll never tire of: the warm summer sun on my skin.

Texas takes it’s time coming around to fall so I’m still making use of all my favorite dresses. I’m not ready to hang them up just yet! This red and blue striped slip dress from Forever 21 has been in constant rotation since I got it in April. I never shop there anymore but I stopped by on this random occasion and left with four items that I’ve worn quite a lot. And this dress became a favorite upon first wear because of how comfortable it is — like a nightgown, but much more flattering.

This dress looks really adorable with any of my Vans high top sneakers (like these ones) as well as with my favorite slide sandals that I wore here. But I love how it looks with these lace up espadrilles for a low-key date night, like pizza and a movie (and probably some ice cream afterwards!). All this dress needs to take it into fall is a moto jacket and black boots like these, which I got during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and can’t wait to put to use. Do you transition your summer dresses into fall, or do you hang them up and make a clean switch with your wardrobe? Tell me in the comments!
