By far two of the most worn items in my closet this spring have been my trench coat and Hunter boots. We’ve had a particularly rainy season this year and I find myself grabbing one or the other (or both) at least once a week. The final accessory to complete the trio of essential rain gear is my Vera Bradley bubble umbrella that I use just as much as the other two. I had this baby tucked away since Christmas when I got it as a gift and I couldn’t wait to pull it out once the springtime came. The shape of it keeps my head/shoulders area so dry that I don’t know how I ever used a regular umbrella before. It’s the perfect merge of an accessory that’s functional while still looking stylish.

We’d spent the first half of this rainy Sunday inside before heading out in the late afternoon for some to-dos. Though the rain had ceased by the time we got out, I donned my gear anyway thinking there’d still be some drizzles or puddles for splashing (I was wrong, but that didn’t stop me from opening the umbrella). The temperature was mild enough for shorts so I wore this faux leather pair from Forever 21. I have a few faux leather shorts and definitely wear them more than any others lately — they feel a little more sophisticated than denim style shorts and they can easily be dressed up with heels for a less casual look, like I wore here, here, and here on the blog.

Along with the shorts I wore a white lace-embellished blouse that I’ve had for three years and remains a favorite in my closet. The button-up style, neutral color, and lace detailing are all classic elements that will never go out of style. The finishing touches were my Michael Kors Fulton crossbody bag and Mariana Swarovski necklace (last seen here) — two more rockin’ gifts that I received recently and love. A crossbody bag is essential for keeping your hands free to hold your umbrella, and the necklace is a perfect touch of sparkle for a dreary day.

There are so many colors (and even some prints) of Hunter boots that you can definitely find one to suit your taste! I’m dying over these floral garden booties and would likely be caught wearing them even when it’s not raining because they’re SO GOOD. I’m also interested in getting a pair of Hunter Tours since they’re a little shorter and more of a petite fit which would be a nice option to have. I’ve linked several choices below so you can find your perfect pair. It’s an item you won’t regret buying!

Nice umbrella! Good match to your boots. I definitely want some hunter boots, I’m really liking the red and I think they would be a very versatile color. I also like how you’re wearing that necklace on the outside of that pretty lace top.
