Navigating the post-baby body and what to wear was both a joy and a challenge. I enjoyed being pregnant but was admittedly missing my agility by the time those last few weeks came around. Nothing like waking up every time you want to change sleep positions because it’s such an ordeal to heave your whole body to the other side! For that reason I looked forward to getting back to my normal size, but that obviously doesn’t happen overnight. And since I’d staunchly refused to buy maternity clothes, I had to get creative with what I had available in my closet.
The item that was most crucial in those fresh postpartum weeks were elastic-waist shorts of any variety. I have two pairs of black faux leather shorts that I’ve worn multiple times on the blog (like here, here, here, and here) and they were my go-to more times than I can count. As for tops, button-ups topped the practicality list for breastfeeding purposes; beyond that, anything that was flowy and didn’t cling was king. I loved this pretty pleated-hem top for that reason. I was also ecstatic to get back into my high heels which is probably the thing that most made me feel like myself again. These blue suede sandals are my favorite I own and easy to walk in because of the block heel.
This Sunday was one of the first times we’d gotten out in public since our tot was born. We had a family thing that morning and went to the Domain afterwards so I could get some makeup from W3ll People. While there we stopped by the new Restoration Hardware Gallery which I’ll describe as *hands-raised emoji* for lack of a word that gives it justice. It’s a four storied mansion of sorts and I could.not.stop taking photos. Most of these pictures are from their rooftop patio but peep some of the interior here on their website and try to keep your jaw from hitting the floor. If you live in Austin and have a chance to stop by, run don’t walk. And make sure to give yourself a couple hours for sufficient ogling.
