Any time Blake and I want a quick getaway we’ll head to the lake, even if it’s just for a day trip. We recently went on a Saturday and packed up our favorite quilt and an assortment of fruits, veggies, and nuts for a picnic by the water.
We try to eat healthy as often as possible so we skipped the breads and cheeses for our picnic. Instead, I filled large mason jars with carrots, broccoli, cherry tomatoes, and grapes, and brought some hummus for dipping the veggies. We also brought a couple apples and kiwis. For dry foods, we snacked on rice cakes, almonds, mixed nuts, and my favorite sweet treat, lemon covered almonds.
We laid our blanket in the grass and snacked and relaxed by the water as the sun went down. I wore an all-blue outfit inspired by our lakeside views. This blue linen button-down shirt is one of my most-worn items in my closet. I’ve worn it on the blog here with white jeans in Taos, NM, and dressed up with heels here in downtown Austin. It’s so versatile that I’m thinking of getting this dark blue one or this striped one. I wore it with these denim shorts from J. Crew and pink sneakers from Old Navy. My boater hat is another thing I’ve worn countless times; see some other ways I’ve styled it here, here, here, here, and here.
We had a wonderful time just taking a peaceful break out in nature. When was the last time you had a picnic?
