Although the official first day of fall is in September, the month of October is what really signifies the start of the autumn season to me — pumpkins, cooler sunny days and chilly nights, warm spiced ciders, and plenty of fall-inspired festivals and celebrations.
The first weekend of the month, Blake, my mom, and I spent a Sunday afternoon in Fredericksburg where they were having their annual Oktoberfest celebration. The weather was perfect for a day outside walking around all the booths and vendors and enjoying the authentic German food and polka music.
After we had our fill of Oktoberfest, we whiled away the rest of the afternoon wandering around the historic downtown and popping in a few of the shops. Fredericksburg is known for incredible shopping (along with wineries and much more) and we are never disappointed by the beautiful finds in each little shop. Below is a picture of my favorite thing we saw that day — gorgeous handmade pottery by local Texan Sharon Penn. The edges are lined in 22k gold and I swear I will own one someday *starts saving now*. Keep up with my instagram this week to catch a shot of one of these beauties up close!
And if you haven’t noticed, I’m wearing one of the pieces I picked up from the Adam Lippes for Target collection! This oatmeal sherling backpack was perfect for keeping my hands free while we wandered around the town; the convenience combined with the print and texture make it the perfect fall accessory!
Had to get this last pic in of my mom and I in our element (of course we stopped to buy handmade chocolates before heading back home!) What’s your favorite fall-time celebration or festival?
