We were in Luckenbach, Texas recently for the classic car show Luckenrod. We drove Blake’s old truck on the early morning cruise through the hill country. Merritt snoozed most of the way while it lightly sprinkled rain and we caught the tail end of a sunrise. It was such a peaceful drive! It was one of those simple pleasures that will pass you by if you don’t remember to appreciate the quiet moments of life.
Once we arrived to Luckenbach, it wasn’t long before the rain started to come down harder. We’d set up our roof tents in preparation so we lounged in chairs with car club friends and waited it out, snacking and chatting. When it stopped raining we walked around the (very small) town and got a proper lunch of hamburgers and sopapillas.
With our bellies happy and the sun breaking through the clouds, we browsed around all the cars that had traveled from nearby cities, picking our favorites as usual. Some mentionables were the white Thunderbird that I’d love to have for myself and the grey Bronco that’s the same model and year of Blake’s first vehicle! My favorite thing about classic cars is that each one is unique. There are so many choices to be made when you’re building or restoring a classic. The final product is a representation and expression of the person who made it. It’s awesome seeing all the different ideas come together at a show!
Since rain and warm weather were forecasted for the event, I planned along with my outfit. I wore the two-tone Levis shorts that have been my favorites all summer with this navy eyelet top from Madewell. This shirt is the cutest! The horizontal seams make a flattering fit, and the eyelet fabric makes it great for warm weather. It was recently restocked in all sizes and it’s an extra 30% off the sale price right now! It also comes in white and this cute embroidered print that I love. Madewell is one of my favorite stores that I buy from over and over!
