On the sunniest mild winter days I take advantage of the chance to let my skin breathe a little. I’ll pair one of my warmest coats with a sleeveless top underneath. The feel of the fresh air on my skin hints of springtime ahead. I can never decide if my favorite season is spring or fall. Each time we’re on the cusp of one or the other, I feel convicted that it’s the best of all the seasons. I think it’s simply the evolving that’s my favorite — the sense of new routines, and changing landscapes, and fresh ideas ahead.

We stopped at golden hour one day on the drive home from a friend’s get together. The sun was warm and wholesome, and our drive happened to take us past two of Austin’s lakes. I last wore this cami here when it was still shorts weather. This time I wore a burgundy lace bralette underneath to give it another layer of depth. I’ve realized there’s a definite pattern of colors I’m drawn to in different seasons. This burgundy hue is my clear choice for cold weather outfits, as evidenced by the bralette, my bag, and the boots in this post.

I have a couple thick, warm coats to choose from when I need to balance no sleeves underneath. My navy blue Ann Taylor faux fur coat is ever chic and as warm and cozy as it looks. I also can’t stop wearing these Madewell vintage fit jeans with every.single.outfit. (you might have noticed). I have them in my normal size and one size smaller depending on how boyfriend-style I want them to fit (I’m wearing the size smaller here). Something like this outfit would be perfect for upcoming Valentine’s Day, with this scalloped cami in red or black.

While processing these photos I was realizing the beauty of the late afternoon sunlight on the landscape. Even when most of the ground cover is dead or dormant, it’s transformed and glowing golden with warmth. It has me thankful for these sunny days that remind us of springtime on the horizon and new blooming life ahead.
