We traveled to San Francisco in September to celebrate our anniversary. We stayed in east bay outside of the city, so on our first morning we got an incredible view of the skyline as we crossed the Bay Bridge into true SF. Whenever we’re visiting a place for the first time, we like to see some of the best-known spots of the city. It makes us feel like we’re getting an authentic experience! A couple of those spots in San Francisco are the beautiful ferry building and the iconic red towers of the Golden Gate Bridge.

The ferry building was our first stop since it was just a few minutes drive once we crossed the Bay Bridge. It was as beautiful inside and outside as I’d hoped! There were tons of little shops and vendors to peruse as we made our path through the Sunday morning crowd. We’d eaten breakfast before we headed out that day, so we got a sweet treat and made our way to the pier to enjoy the beautiful fall weather and views.

We’d left a hot and humid Austin behind and my hopes for the perfect fall weather in California were not disappointed! It was sunny, warm, and mild with a breeze, so I capitalized on the chance to wear this lavender colored cropped sweater. I wore it with skinny jeans and these pink suede flats that I’ve been pairing with all my fall outfits. I almost always choose a smaller, crossbody style bag when we’re on vacation to keep my hands free for exploring. It was not too hot or too cold all day, and as we made it over the high point of the afternoon, I was glad to have warm sleeves and a light jacket for Merritt.

After the ferry building, we drove around the hills of the city seeing all the quintessential San Francisco style homes. We even went down the famous twisty Lombard street! Even though these things are considered ‘touristy’, it was fulfilling to see these famous spots for ourselves. I would’ve felt that I’d missed out on a piece of the city if we hadn’t visited them. After cruising for a bit, we drove across the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito for dinner. We ate burgers that were too big for us at Napa Valley Burger Company right on the bay, took a quick walk along the waterfront, and headed back across to the east side to call it a day.
