I’ve been searching for the perfect jewelry that I could wear every day for quite a while. I wanted something dainty enough to could go with pretty much anything I wear. I found out about local artist Amanda Deer jewelry through a fellow Austin blogger friend. I love to support local and small businesses so we visited the flagship store on east 5th.
The store itself was so charming! It was decorated with cacti and soft pink tones which are two things I’m a professed lover of. I spent a long time looking at each table and display. I wanted a necklace that would be good for daily wear and I found the perfect one in her store! It’s a tiny gold fortune cookie on a gold chain, which has a special meaning to me. We announced our pregnancy to our family by dressing our dog up in a fortune cookie costume for Halloween with the fortune (announcement) inside. I felt like the necklace was made for me! The sentimentality of it is so special and feels like I have a piece of our Bear with me every day. You can see a close-up of it in this post. I also picked out four midi rings and even met Amanda herself as she helped me choose the right size for my fingers. While we chatted I found out she’s a small town Texas girl like me which made me that much happier to be buying from her.
The temperatures outside were still in between winter and spring, which can be an awkward time for dressing. I deal with this by wearing light layers. I love to pair sweaters over dresses! If the weather warms up, it’s easy to remove the sweater and still look put together. I particularly like how the cute neck tie on this dress pops out from the collar and looks very finished. I also have a selection of light jackets that I wear often in the spring and fall. This blue suede trench coat is my favorite color and I always get compliments on it! I also have a tan trench coat (last worn to a brunch in Georgetown) that has been in my closet longer than any other jacket. I wear both often when I need something light to keep the chill off.
We grabbed a nearby coffee after shopping, then headed back home as it rained the rest of the afternoon. It was a Saturday well spent and I found a new favorite spot for shopping! Do you have a favorite type of jewelry for daily wear?
