I’m writing this post as I break from a flurry of packing and housecleaning all day. We’re heading to Vail, CO for our annual snowboarding trip tomorrow! It’s always such an anticipated trip, with the best snowboarding, excellent company, and tons of good food and laughs. I’m simply brimming with excitement! However, I’m notoriously bad at working when we’re on vacation (good thing or bad thing??) but I want to be better at posting on the blog even when we’re out of town, so I’ve got a fresh cup of coffee and good intentions to crank out some work tonight before we leave. I still need to get the final pics from our last trip up!

We spent a sunny morning around Dalhart in one of the areas of town I grew up in. It’s close to downtown, the train tracks, and underpasses. The buildings were still the same, with the wide red brick main street cutting down the center of town. I always loved the brick streets that felt so original and sounded old-timey when cars drove over them. We also stopped at an abandoned milk railcar that’s always been at the end of my house street. My siblings, cousins, and I played on it often growing up, and I told a story on my Instagram post here about something that happened while we were taking photos this day!

The mild weather continued so I skipped my jacket and wore a scarf for warmth instead. A cute sweatshirt and these vintage style jeans is basically my casual winter uniform lately. I like to buy sweaters that have something colorful, fun, girly, etc. about them, like this neon-printed sweatshirt I’ve worn before, or this cozy alpaca sweater with a rainbow collar that I recently bought. I got this pink ruffle sweatshirt from Nordstrom last year and I wear it regularly. It’s soft, hangs nicely, and doesn’t look frumpy or plain thanks to the ruffle detail.

I accessorized in coordinating tones: rose pink sunglasses, lavender Vans sneakers, and a burgundy crossbody bag. Speaking of these Vans, cute sneakers should definitely be added to my winter uniform must-have list. They’re just practical and can be so cute! I’ve even worn them with dresses and mini skirts on some nice days we’ve had lately (like this Instagram picture here). If you need ideas for cute sneakers to buy, some I constantly wear are my Keds Champion sneakers, Vans Old Skool sneakers, and Vans Sk8-Hi sneakers (tons of options linked below!).

It was cool to be back at the sites of my childhood–the streets I walked and rode my bike on countless times– and take photos in these places where my roots grew. I’ve got one more set of pictures to share from Dalhart that definitely captures the spirit of my home town!
