Nearby Georgetown is a favorite of ours for getting out of the house. We go there for coffee, walking around downtown, and eating out on occasion. We went on a Sunday for brunch at Monument Cafe, a Georgetown classic that we’ve been to many times.
We filled up on biscuits, avocado toast, migas, and a big, shared lemon ricotta pancake and then went strolling downtown. The buildings had started decorating for Christmas and the lights were being hung in the huge oak trees at the courthouse. I just love seeing everything all lit up and twinkling for the holidays!
While we walked it started to drizzle so I was glad I brought my bubble umbrella, which I ran back to grab at the last second after seeing the gray clouds outside. I also wore my trench coat, which is my favorite coat and worn more than any other in my closet. It’s perfect for this time of year when it’s still mild enough for a light layer. It’s my first trench coat I’ve owned and I’ve never regretted buying it! I’ve worn it with jeans, dresses, skirts, and work trousers and it always looks polished and chic.
I’ve always loved the charm and character of the old, historic buildings and the brick sidewalks downtown. It reminds me of my hometown! We strolled around the square, popped into a few shops, then headed back home before the rain got any heavier.
I’ve linked several trench coats and other rainy day gear below! What’s your most-worn coat in your closet?
