On the second day of Austin Fashion Week runway shows, after leaving work behind and greeting the weekend, we once again headed out to enjoy another evening downtown watching some fabulous designer presentations. We ate dinner first — this time at Cedar Door, a restaurant just across the street from the Marriott where the shows were held. It’s a great place with American fare and an outdoor deck that we’ve dined at a handful of times, and allowed us to not have to wander too far from the hotel.
For my outfit tonight, I wore a couple pieces that I’ve had in my closet since spring started: a blue suede cropped shirt with a faux leather pleated skirt. Both pieces I found at Dillards and have worn multiple times; the suede cropped top looks great with high-waisted skinny jeans, and I can’t wait to pair the pleated skirt with over-the-knee boots and a turtleneck sweater in the fall [mental note: need to buy OTK boots…;)].
My favorite thing about this outfit, though, were the accessories. These blue suede sandals were on my wishlist for a couple months before I finally purchased them with a birthday discount (along with these blush suede espadrilles). Add in these gold-studded oxfords that my love surprised me with, and the #shoeobsession is becoming real. I love these sandals as much as I knew I would and the chunky heel makes them so easy for walking in. I was also beyond delighted to receive this sparkling Swarovski crystal-studded Mariana necklace and matching earrings as another birthday gift. They paired beautifully with the colors of the outfit and took the entire ensemble to another level, which proves that sometimes small details are everything in an outfit!
I’ve also been making Blake pose for pictures more often these days — he has such an epic beard/mustache situation right now that I feel I must document it! My favorite part is the natural highlighting on the curves of his ‘stache. His facial hair is probably our number one conversation starter when we’re in a group somewhere (#truth).
Lastly, to share a few looks from one of the shows on Friday, above are a few pics of Rare Trends’ runway presentation. The women’s line is designed by two sisters from Argentina who believe that “women should wear art”; I loved that they had some funky designs thrown in with some classic lines. I’ll be sharing the final day of AFW at the end of the week!
