While we were in Port Aransas I was set on walking down to the beach to watch the sunrise at least once. We had a view of it every morning out an east-facing window in our room, but watching it in person while the cold water of the Gulf rushed over my feet was breathtaking and inspiring. It’s one of my favorite memories from the trip!
The sun was just cresting over the water as we woke so we quickly dressed, woke Merritt, and walked the few minutes down to the beach. Blake wore Merritt in the carrier and zipped his hoodie around her to keep her cozy, and she was a happy clam the whole time. She’s always content when we’re out adventuring, even when she’s been woken up early. She has our love for exploring!
I got this gray dress right before the trip and was hoping to get a chance to wear it. It was easy to slip into right out of bed, and I layered a fuzzy white sweater over it for warmth since the mornings were quite chilly. Something I always keep top of mind when shopping is buying pieces that I’ll wear numerous times over many years. This sweater was a clearance find at Gap several years ago that I still wear every winter. When looked at on a cost-per-wear basis — which I usually think about because I don’t like to shop frivolously — it was a great purchase! I styled it with white jeans in this past blog post. (BTW, did you know I have a visual archives page in which you can view all of my past blog post outfits? It’s an easy way to quickly browse outfit ideas or look for inspiration!)
I found this gray dress still available in two places, both under $20 (only a few sizes left though)! I love the tie neck detail on it, which looks great tied in a bow or left to hang. I’ve already worn it again this winter with a navy striped sweater layered over it and my pink raincoat. When it’s warm I’ll wear it with espadrilles and a lace bralette underneath for a date night!
