It’s hard to believe we’re on the verge of fall when our weather still feels like the middle of summer; nonetheless, I can’t help but get excited for my favorite season that brings cooler mornings for drinking coffee on the patio, chilly evenings by the chiminea, and days filled with changing leaves, pumpkin flavored food, and planning for seasonal festivities and holidays around the corner.
It also means shopping for clothes in terms of how well they can transition from the hot days of summer to the milder weather of fall; this outfit is comprised of some of my favorite pieces to do just that. This cap-sleeve button up shirt looks great with a skirt or shorts for now, and would be cute in the fall tucked into a pair of dark wash skinny jeans with these black boots and a handkerchief around your neck.
This black pleated skirt is another item I’ll be wearing all fall; I love how the pleats give it a feminine school-girl vibe and since it’s black it’ll be great for the subdued tones of the season. I’d wear it with this tie neck top in retro chainlink print or this sweater and over-the-knee boots on a chilly day. I’ve also been using a scarf tied around my bag as an accessory lately — it’s perfect to add a pretty print to an outfit that’s otherwise neutral, and on a fall day you can untie it and drape it around your neck for a bit of warmth if the weather turns south.

Fortunately, you don’t have to ditch your whole summer wardrobe just because it’s going to get a bit cooler outdoors. The fashion savvy can always seamlessly ease into fall without any major hiccups. Why? Because they have great transitional pieces that work for both seasons.
